Our black kitten, Cashmere, is a time traveler. Here she is traveling back in time after meeting Emily in her Victorian garden. Once she saw the butterfly flitting about on the marigold she knew she’d have to go for it. Cashmere has a tendency to lose her mind when she gets excited. Emily adored her new mysterious little friend and, since she was a member of high society, she could give this beautiful black kitten a very posh life. Instead, she chose to come back to us. In the Victorian era, “floriography” was an actual thing and, even though the marigolds brightly colored flowers were used in soups, salads, and butter, they also represented grief, despair, and mourning. Once Cashmere was gone, at least Emily still had the marigolds.
