We should ALL know who Harriet Quimby is! She had so many accomplishments in her life that I was shocked to "discover" her and literally appalled that Harriet wasn’t even inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame until the year 2004 - a staggering 92 years after her death.
On August 1st, 1911, Harriet Quimby became the first woman to obtaint a pilot's license in the United States. To put this fact into historical perspective, when Harriet received that license, Amelia Earhart was 9 years old.

The biggies series of paintings by artist Shelly Taylor are 18x24" and UP - they are painted on a 1.5" deep gallery wrapped pro canvas. Once completed, the edges are painted black and the painting is varnished.
Many of the biggies series works are painted on a heavily textured surface. While it takes extra time to paint on this challenging surface, it adds a unique dimension to the finished work. The first practice pieces were urban scenes, but going forward these pieces are a celebration of womanhood and powerful feminine energy.
