This piece is one of 5 practice pieces featuring an urban theme that was painted on a textured canvas. While the edges on the majority of my pieces are painted black, on this one - the picture itself is painted so that it wraps completely around the edges of the canvas.
I've never lived in any city. Yet these urban scenes captivate me. The tall buildings, the light, the movement of people, the noise, and the shadows all intrigue me. Perhaps it's the marked difference from my own life since I've always lived away from the city in a more rural setting. Even though I do prefer living away from town, I can appreciate the hustle and bustle of a city alive with people going places.
